This part begins with a scene from the past. During it, Subaru is a little boy and Seishirou is a teenage boy in a school uniform. They are standing under the Sakura tree. Seishirou tells Subaru a stroy about the origen of the pink leaves of the Sakura, informing him that they are tinted that color because of the blood of warriors buried beneath. Worried for the pain the warriors underneath might feel, Seishirou seems first startled and then charmed by Subaru's innocence. Kneeling infront of him, Seishirou tells Subaru that as long as he is alive, Subaru won't feel any pain. He keeps talking, only Subaru can no longer hear Seishirou over the sound of the wind.

Subaru meets Mirei when she comes to the scene of a murder that he was witness to, a subway killing. She wears a pair of white gloves, and as Subaru watches, takes them off and proceeds to touch the glass on the train. She has a special gift to see the past of objects by touching them with her bare fingers. She's an asset to the police station because of this, and they use her to help them solve murders. Witnessing the murder of the woman on the train, she can see the man, but can't identify him by name.

Subaru is left overcome with worry for Mirei and the weight of her extraordinary gift, Subaru, Hokuto, and Seishirou meet a young man chipping away at rocks on a building rubble site. The man, whose name is Mr. Miyatake, tells them that he collects these fragments to remember all of their memories since buildings are discarded, though they have seen so much. Invited back to his place to see his collection, Hokuto notices that none of the samples are marked, and how can he know which ones they are. Mr. Miyatake reveals to them that he can read them with his hands.

Subaru and Mirei meet again at the home of an old murder, a murder during which a little boy killed a little girl. The Detective is curious as to know what really happened, since he thinks the young boy has grown up to become the murderer that they are looking for. On the police ride home, Subaru notices that Mirei also wears a strange rock around her neck, and he asks about it. She tells him that it was given to her by a boy when she was a child. They met on the site of a building being torn down, and she was reading the rock. The boy was amazed by her gift and gave her a piece of the rock, telling her that they would meet again.

So, with the killer is still free, and the next murder scene that Mirei is called to is that of her own mother!

Mirei is asked by the FBI to help them catch him, and emotional over the loss of her mother, she agrees despite the obvious danger to her. Setting herself up on the train, soon enough the killer comes and attacks her. Everything is going as the plan required until the FBI agent rushes out to arrest the man and instead killed! Now Mirei is on the run from a killer who is set out to get her, her only protection dead on the subway train that she abandoned.

She is almost caught and stabbed when a man jumps from above. It's Mr. Miyatake, who had been chipping away at the building underground for his sample collection. Cut from her neck was the rock necklace that she wore, though she doesn't notice. He does, however, when the killer wounds him and sets back after Mirei. It comes to light that Mr. Miyatake was the young boy that Mirei met, and his promise of them meeting again is now fullfilled.

Subaru is racing to find her, and to get to her before the killer does. He arrives just in time to see Mirei being followed by the killer above a canal of water underground. Close to reaching her, Subaru sends his birds after the killer, knocking him into the lake. Mirei reaches for Subaru so that he can help her onto the ledge and up, but she slips! Just as she begins to fall, Mr. Miyatake comes from nowhere and grabs her. Their hands meet and they instantly know who each other are.

With the two of them safe and reunited, the killer is still on the loose. Subaru goes after him. The cunning killer, who is indeed the boy who murdered the young girl just as the Detective thought, is too smart for Subaru and sneaks up on him, attacking and choaking him

Passed out on the ground, Subaru is about to be smashed in the head by a rock when the killer begins to scream. As he watches, his body is becomming Sakura leaves and floating away. This is all an illusion, but it's an effective one that leaves him dead (perhaps of a heart attack). This was the doing of Seishirou, who comes out of the distance where he had been watching to rouse Subaru. The killer has been stopped, and everyone finds their happy ever after.
